Murphys Shiraz 2016

75cl Trentham Estate Shiraz Australia > New South Wales Juicy, easy drinking
Murphys Shiraz is a rich, plum and damson filled Shiraz with a gentle touch of black pepper on the long, balanced finish. This is what the Aussies do well: simple, juicy, upfront, uncomplicated and easy to understand – and their wines aren’t bad either!!

Anthony Murphy’s family emigrated to Australia from Cork in 1909 and were one of the first settlers to establish vineyards at Merbein, 15km west of Mildura. The family moved to Trentham Cliffs in 1960 and developed their farm, originally growing fruit and vegetables before turning to viticulture. Their first commercial vintage was 1984. Anthony formed Trentham Estate with his brother Patrick in 1988. The winemaking philosophy at Trentham has always been to produce high-quality varietal wines at an affordable price, with an emphasis on full fruit flavour and palatability. The right reverend James Halliday describes the winery as “remarkably consistent across all wine styles since 1989” and “offering great value for money”.
