Givry 1er Cru 'La Grand Berge' 2013

75cl Domaine Mouton Pinot Noir France > Burgundy Something special
Beautiful classic Burgundy with red fruits leaning towards cherry and raspberry, followed by earthy notes with a little underbrush. Well structured.

Gerard Mouton works about twenty hectares of vines, mostly within the Givry appellation in the Cote Challonaise. The average age of his Pinot Noir vines is around 30 years old. The domaine has holdings in four premier crus, ensuring Gerard has become an expert in preserving the distinctiveness of its terroirs. Here, the winemaking sets out to preserve the fruitiness of the harvest, while bringing out the minerality of the various parcels. Domaine Mouton receives regular citations in the Guide Hachette and has a presence on many of France's Michelin-starred restaurants. The wines are soft, scented, fruity with intense flavour and a strong minerality and are very well priced.
