Corbières Cuvee Classique 2016

75cl Château Ollieux Romanis Carignan, Grenache,Syrah France > Languedoc Spicy, robust and punchy
Made from a blend of Carignan, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah from vines that have been planted on hard red clay soil. Luscious red and black flavours are counter pointed by the dryer garrigue notes of bay leaf and rosemary, tobacco leaf and pepper.

Ollieux Romanis is a magnificent property established in 1860. In 1978, current owners, Jacqueline and Francois Bories took over the estate with the intention of producing Corbières wines which best express the Boutenac terroir. 2001 saw the arrival of their son Pierre to the business, who injected new energy into the property, including the introduction of four new cuvees. Pierres’ efforts are gaining recognition, he recently featured in a Decanter article highlighting Corbières rising stars. The estate has almost 70 hectares of vines, including 21 hectares of magnificent Carignan which provide the backbone of their red wines, the youngest of these vines being around 50 years-old and the oldest 109 years old. The wines are a sincere expression of the dry, dusty, garrigue-scented terroir of the region, with appetising ripe fruit and a warm, savoury edge.
