Chianti Colli Florentini Tenuta San Vito 'Darno' 2014

75cl Tenuta San Vito Sangiovese Italy > Tuscany Rich, full-bodied, elegant and complex
Chianti Colli Fiorentini “Darno” is a traditional Chianti blend of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Canaiolo. Fermented and aged only in stainless steel, it is a deep ruby wine with fragrant wild red berry aromas with a round, richly flavoured palate and a lingering finish.

Tenuta San Vito was established by the Drighi family in 1960. The estate currently has 30 hectares under vine and is situated at the top of the “San Vito” hill in Montelupo Fiorentino, which is just 15km from Florence and borders the western perimeter with Chianti Classico. The Drighi family were early pioneers of organic viticulture at a time when Italian producers in general were sceptical of it’s validity. They proceeded with courage and faith, sustained by the support and enthusiasm of their clients and in 1985, they received the first organic certification in the region. The entire production of wine and oil (they have 20h of olive groves also) is carried out with the complete exclusion of herbicides, pesticides and all synthetic chemical treatments. Winemaking at the estate is carried out by Marinka Polencic, a native of Friuli with winemaking experience at her family winery, at various wineries in Argentina and also at Brown Brothers in Australia. She is assisted by Attilio Pagli, a prominent consultant oenologist on the Tuscan wine scene.
