PX 2007 is lighter in colour, gold with coppery tones. The nose features cake-spice, new wood and raisins. It is powerful and silky on the palate with a long, figgy aftertaste. The wine is aged in new barrels for 4 months prior to release.
Alvear is an historic sherry bodega founded by Don Diego de Alvear in 1729, the oldest winery in Andalusia. Still controlled by the Alvear family (8th generation), they produce what are widely considered some of the finest wines of DO Montilla-Morilles. The production focuses on the local Pedro Ximenez (or PX) varietal and the winery produce a wide range of Sweet, Fino, Oloroso and Amontillado styles.
