Morgon 'Vielles Vignes' 2012

75cl Domaine des Marrans Gamay France > Beaujolais Juicy, easy drinking
Mathieu’s first vintage of cru Morgon was in 2008 produced from a 50 year old vineyard on a 2 hectare plot named ‘La Roches Pilée’. The wine is matured in large oak tuns. Exuding intense aromas of plums and cherries this charming wine is quite full-bodied for Gamay and will age well. An excellent partner for Game, Duck terrine or mature cheeses.

Mathieu Melinand of the Domaine des Marrans makes wines in four of the ten Beaujolais crus.

The family domain is based just outside of the village of Fleurie in the heart of the Beaujolais crus, about 50 km north of Lyon, and today includes 6 appellations on 20 hectares (48 acres). Mathieu joined his parents in 2008 after having finished his oenology studies and having worked at wineries in the southern hemisphere, Australia and New Zealand.
