Picpoul de Pinet Terre de Roqueloupie 2015

75cl Domaine des Lauriers Picpoul France > Languedoc Crisp, fresh and zesty
In these Mediterranean garrigue-scented vineyards, Domaine des Lauriers craft one of the finest Picpoul wines; Fresh and floral, blending citrus fruits and acacia flowers, crisp and harmonious on the palate with grapefruit and that tangy element so characteristic of the varietal.

The tiny appellation of Picpoul de Pinet is to be found on the shores of the Bassin de Thau to the South of Pezenas and is part of the sprawling Coteaux du Languedoc appellation. Domaine des Lauriers (45hectares) is located in the commune of Castelnau-de-Guers and is run by the Cabrol family who produce a typically thirst-quenching wine from the ancient Piquepoul grape (the name translates as lip-stinger but we think lip-smacking is a good descriptor). Known as the Muscadet of the south Picpoul de Pinet is renowned as a first-rate seafood wine, and like its counterpart, pairs especially well with oysters.

The terroir for the Cabrol family vineyard is partly established on red soil slopes covered with tiny pebbles which store and release the heat of the sun and aide in bringing the grapes to perfect maturity.

“Perfumed with a floral fragrance. A delicious citrus fest, pithy and zesty. An elegant lean Chablis-like style with a salty mineral finish. So good with oysters.”

“Quite a distinctive take on the grape, thanks to pronounced Poire William and pink grapefruit aromas, and a soft mouthfeel with some welcome bite on the finish”
