Lo Petit Fantet d’Hippolyte 2013

75cl Château Ollieux Romanis Carignan, Grenache,Syrah France > Languedoc Juicy, easy-drinking
A hand-harvested blend of Carignan with a little Grenache and Syrah made using only indigenous yeast and no added sulphur Lo Petit is a true natural wine. Cherry-red with violet glints, it has an intense nose with sweet raspberry and kirsch fruit and a herbal undertow. It is very well balanced despite its powerful alcohol.

Ollieux Romanis is a magnificent property established in 1860. In 1978, current owners, Jacqueline and Francois Bories took over the estate with the intention of producing Corbières wines which best express the Boutenac terroir. 2001 saw the arrival of their son Pierre to the business, who injected new energy into the property, including the introduction of four new cuvees. Pierres’ efforts are gaining recognition, he recently featured in a Decanter article highlighting Corbières’ rising stars.
The estate has almost 70 hectares of vines, including 21 hectares of magnificent Carignan which provide the backbone of their red wines, the youngest of these vines being around 50 years-old and the oldest 109 years old. The wines are a sincere expression of the dry, dusty, garrigue-scented terroir of the region, with appetising ripe fruit and a warm, savoury edge.
