Domaine du Trapadis is situated in the heart of the Southern Rhone between Avignon and Vaison – la – Romaine.
Domaine du Trapadis dates back four generations to 1850, with present vineyard owner Helen Durand’s two great-grandfathers each owning a part of the land that together form today’s Domaine du Trapadis 23 hectares near the village of Rasteau. After taking charge in 1996 Helen has run the domaine with a philosophy, which respects the vine and terroir. The domain is certified by Ecocert and the wines are organic. Work in the vines is carried out with respect for the soil and the plants. No synthetic or chemical products are used. Respecting the soil allows the fauna and flora to thrive. This encourages the development of an ecosystem in each parcel where the vines are in balance with their surroundings. The objective being to increase the depth of the vines’ root system, thus increasing the vines’ natural reserve, providing greater resistance to external attack. All this helps to maintain and express the potential quality of each terroir. A lot of the work in the vines is done with the help of a horse. The dominant grape variety is Grenache, complemented by Syrah, Mourvedre and Carignan for the red wines.
