Avancia Godello “Cuvee de O” 2016

75cl Bodegas Avancia Godello Spain > Valdeorras Rich, elegant, complex
Avancia Cuvee de O is a white wine from D.O Valdeorras produced by the winery Avancia, belonging to Grupo Jorge Ordonez. The 100% Godello grapes, from old vines, grow at an altitude of 500 meters above sea level, near the town of El Barco de Valedorras. The harvest is performed by hand and the grape are transported to the winery by hand in small baskets. On arrival to the winery, the grapes are selected to use in the wine. Before being bottled, Avancia Cuvee de O rests for 7 months on the lees. Avancia Cuvee de O is the work of the oenologist Alistair Gardner from New Zealand.

Avancia is a knockout, compelling young project unveiling itself in the Galician mountains of Valdeorras in Spain’s extreme northwest. From a collaboration involving Jumilla’s established Monastrell-proficient Gil family, Jorge Ordonez, and Bodegas Godeval, who started making Godello in the same 13th century monastery structure that Avanthia takes life in today.

" Cuvee De O Godello is three-fourths stainless steel fermented and aged, with the remainder barrel fermented. This wine, coming from 100% slate soils with a cold, northerly exposition, shows loads of caramelized grapefruit, mango, pineapple and a Chardonnay-like texture, but has crisp acids and a fresh, lively mouthfeel. It's a beauty. Drink now through 2018."
