La Valière - Viognier 2016

75cl Mas des Agrunelles Viognier France > Languedoc Fruit driven, smooth and dry
La Valière opens with notes of white peach and wild flowers and leads to a refreshing palate, smooth, medium acidity and a subtle note of the earth on the back palate.

The story of Mas des Agrunelles is an incredible one. Frédéric Porro was an aspiring Motor cross rider until an accident left him in a wheelchair. His disability led him to a new passion - wine - after his sister asked him to put together the wine list for her restaurant. From that moment on, he became devoted to the grape. Mas des Agrunelles came about from his collaboration with Stéphanie Ponson – owner of Mas Nicot – in 2005 near Murles in Languedoc.

The 18 hectares of vineyards are spread over a dozen plots and the vines are planted on clay and limestone soils (Jurassic limestone). Everything is done organically (certified Ecocert) and biodynamically in the vineyards with traditional methods (ploughing the soils, no weed killers, etc.). The winemaking is deeply respectful of the fruits and the terroir. Only the grape varieties planted of the same kind of terroir are blended together and very low sulphites can be added to the wines when they are bottled.
